It's taken me a couple of weeks to process the fact that Harvey Lalonde, the subject of the Documentary I started in 2009 called "You Know Harvey" has passed away on Feb 13, 2023. The fact that he passed away on the 13th might make him happy because of his love of the Horror Film Genre. Harvey was 61 when he passed only a couple of months away from his 62nd birthday. Harvey had a stroke and spent a week in the ICU at Mount Sinai Hospital in Toronto where a record number of visitors went to see him but unfortunately he was unresponsive and didn't recover. Harvey's facebook page was flooded with messages and a book I brought to the Hospital was also filled with messages of support.
I have been flooded with messages to finish the documentary. I met some new people at the hospital who are very important to Harvey. Everyone wants me to finish this film as a tribute to Harvey's life. So the pressure is on to start over under different circumstances and with a changed ending.
Things were much different when I started. My life was different, technology was different, social media a whole other thing.
I will need much help to finish this including help with filming new interviews, editing, music and putting it all together for Film Festivals.
At last count Harvey volunteered for over 70 Festivals, most in Toronto, mostly Film Festivals but he finally got on a plane and started volunteering at the Sundance Film Festival in Utah. I saw him there in 2011.
I will be looking for financial assistance but I haven't started a crowd source fund yet because I need to figure out what the costs are going to be to completion.
My birthday is in May and instead of gifts for me I will ask for gift card for things that can be used for the film.
I reactivated a YOU KNOW HARVEY facebook Group where you can join and see some articles written about him before and after his passing and messages from people who knew him and Questions i ask to see people's connection to him. Please join because that's where I will post updates because I don't have a website up currently.
There will be a Celebration of Life for him in June and details are posted on that group.
If you can contribute your talents or funds to this project I would be very grateful.
This started as an idea at a Festival many years ago so I hope it gets seen by many festivals in the very near future.
Harvey was a very friendly person and connected many people in the arts world. He will very much be missed by many.
